At the exhibition, BIRD Aerosystems will present its patented SPREOS DIRCM, which enhances aircraft protection by providing unique threat confirmation, tracking and jamming of all advanced IR-guided missiles. Using a semi-active interrogation radar, SPREOS confirms the validity of the incoming threat hence eliminating all false alarms, while precisely tracking and analyzing the threat’s unique information to enable the most effective jamming response. Compact and Lightweight, SPREOS is an ideal solution for a range of airborne platforms and can be integrated with any legacy MWS system.

 

The company will also present the AMPS AeroShield pod, an all-in-one Pod solution that supports the installation of BIRD’s AMPS on narrow and wide-body aircraft. The AeroShield pod offers the most comprehensive anti-missile protection by uniquely using both BIRD’s SPREOS DIRCM and Flares, and enabling customers to fly fully protected in the most challenging theaters. Easily installed, the AeroShield POD can be simply transferred between different platforms.

BIRD Aerosystems signs a new contract for SPREOS DIRCM delivery and AMPS certification (STC) on Airbus 320

BIRD Aerosystems, a global provider of innovative defense technologies and solutions that protect the air, sea, and land fleets of governments and related agencies, has signed a new contract for the delivery of the SPREOS DIRCM solution and for the certification of BIRD Aerosystems’ AMPS-MD on Airbus 320 type aircraft.

The advanced SPREOS DIRCM Solution will enhance aircraft protection by providing unique threat confirmation, tracking and jamming of all advanced IR-guided missiles. Using a semi-active interrogation radar, SPREOS confirms the validity of the incoming threat hence eliminating all false alarms, while precisely tracking and analyzing the threat’s unique information to enable the most effective jamming response.

The complete AMPS-MD system, including the SPREOS, will be installed into BIRD’s all-in-one AeroShield POD, which will be certified on the customer A-320 aircraft in collaboration with Airbus France, the aircraft OEM, achieving a supplemental type certificate (STC) for the system installation on the aircraft.

The ASIO Maritime Task Force Solution provided includes multiple Cessna Citation CJ3 aircraft that the company converted into Maritime Patrol Aircraft, together with BIRD’s advanced mission management system (MSIS) which was also installed on a number of vessels as well as at the naval HQ command.

BIRD Aerosystems opens a new office in Argentina

This new office joins the company’s existing offices in Israel, the USA, Cyprus, and Switzerland

BIRD Aerosystems, the leading developer of Airborne Missile Protection Systems (AMPS) and Airborne Surveillance, Information, and Observation (ASIO) solutions, announced the opening of an office in  Buenos Aires, Argentina, as part of the expansion of its activities in the Latin American market.

The company already has offices across the world, including Israel, the USA, Cyprus, and Switzerland, and is currently establishing another office in Singapore. The new office in Argentina will be responsible for the marketing and business development activities in central and south America and will provide maintenance and support services to the company’s customers in the region.

BIRD Aerosystems will provide additional AMPS systems to the Czech Air Force

BIRD Aerosystems, the leading developer of Airborne Missile Protection Systems (AMPS) and Airborne Surveillance, Information, and Observation (ASIO) solutions, has been awarded a new contract by the Czech Republic. Under the contract, BIRD Aerosystems will provide additional AMPS-MV systems with the patented MACS (Missile Approach Confirmation Sensor) for the Czech Air Force Mi-17 fleet. This project is a part of the overall modernization of the Czech Mi-17 transport helicopter fleet.

BIRD’s AMPS are already operational on the Czech Air Force Mi-17 helicopters and have been successfully deployed in different conflict zones, including Afghanistan. This contract comes after BIRD Aerosystems has conducted an overall upgrade to the Czech’s existing AMPS systems earlier this year, which provided enhanced functionality to the MILDS UV detection sensors and the MCDU Mission computers.

As part of the current contract BIRD Aerosystems will provide the Czech Air Force its AMPS systems with the MACS sensor, which ensures that No False Alarms will be detected and the system will react only to validated real threats.

BIRD Aerosystems’ Airborne Missile Protection System (AMPS) provides the most enhanced protection for military and civilian aircraft against all known Surface to Air Missiles (SAM), including MANPADS, Laser Beam Rider threats, and radar-guided missiles. The AMPS system automatically detects, verifies, and foil missile attacks through the effective use of countermeasure decoys (Flares and Chaff) that jam the missile’s IR seeker and protect the aircraft.

MACS (Missile Approach Confirmation Sensor) is a Semi-Active confirmation Radar that significantly reduces the false alarm rate of the overall Missile Warning System. Queued by a suspected threat, MACS points towards it and performs a Doppler-based interrogation to confirm the existence of a valid threat; Doing so, MACS provides the most effective filtering of all known natural and human-made types of false alarms typically detected by electro-optical sensors, and ensures that only real missiles will be declared by the system and reacted upon.

Fully operational, BIRD’s AMPS-MV with the MACS sensor is provided as a turn-key solution that includes installation design, installation, integration, certification, and support, and is certified by leading aircraft manufacturers.

 

IDEX Abu Dhabi: BIRD Aerosystems to Present the ASIO Solution for Protection of Critical National Infrastructure

Presented by the company for the first time in an international exhibition, the ASIO Integrated Aerial-Land Solution is tailored for protecting national wide economic infrastructure

BIRD Aerosystems, the leading developer of Airborne Missile Protection Systems (AMPS) and Airborne Patrol Solutions (ASIO), will launch and present its new ASIO Protection of Critical National Infrastructure solution which utilizes state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies uniquely designed for protection of Critical Infrastructures such as oil, gas, electricity and more.

The ASIO Critical National Infrastructure solution, BIRD’s newest and most advanced configuration of the ASIO solution, enables customers to patrol and survey their strategic assets and Critical Infrastructure in any weather or lighting condition. When a threat is detected by the ASIO Special Mission Aircraft mission operator, the detection location, live video, and operational data are immediately relayed to other ASIO fixed-wing aircraft and ASIO Special Mission Helicopters for further tracking. In parallel, target data and live airborne video is sent to Headquarters and ASIO ground vehicles for effective event management and interception of the suspected targets on the ground.

BIRD Aerosystems and HENSOLDT sign a follow-on contract: BIRD will further customize its RCD and MSIS systems to support advanced user capabilities for the HENSOLDT PrecISR™ Multi-Mode Radar

BIRD Aerosystems, the leading developer of Airborne Missile Protection Systems (AMPS) and Airborne Surveillance, Information, and Observation (ASIO) solutions, has received a follow-on contract to develop additional advanced capabilities for its RCD (Radar Control and Display) that controls HENSOLDT’ PrecISR™ advanced multi-mode radar family.

After successfully completing the first phase of development and customization of the RCD to the PrecISR™ earlier this year, the next phase of development has been agreed upon by the companies and will include developing specific and more advanced capabilities tailored for HENSOLDT customers.

The new capabilities to be implemented by the RCD include, for example, Dynamic SAR imagery footprints, control of multi-layered data visualization, and enhanced real-time radar information and status. Furthermore, the RCD system will be integrated with additional surveillance sensors used by the customers along with the HENSOLDT Radar (e.g., AIS and others).

The follow-on contract and the new capabilities that will be developed under this contract are all focused on customizing the RCD for new customers and programs. BIRD will also provide an ILS package that includes RCD training and system documentation, to be provided to HENSOLDT and its Customers.

AMPS-MLRD missile protection system provides the most enhanced protection for military and civilian aircraft against the growing threat of ground to air missiles including MANPADS, Laser guided threats, and Radar guided threats.
