AFA National Convention, Gaylord National Resort, MD, USA, Booth #1942
[September 2022]: BIRD Aerosystems, a global provider of innovative defense technology and solutions that protect the air, sea, and land fleets of governments and related agencies, is happy to be joining the US AFA as a member, and present its SPREOS DIRCM and AMPS family of solutions for the first time at the AFA National Convention.
Combat-proven and fully operational, BIRD’s Airborne Missile Protection Solutions (AMPS) with the SPREOS DIRCM ensures unique confirmation of threats and enhanced aircraft protection, enabling any aerial mission to continue uninterrupted.
Small and lightweight, BIRD SPREOS combines a Semi-Active Dual Band Radar and Directional IR Countermeasure to provide aerial platforms with the best operational protection against the most advanced missiles. Queued by the Missile Warning Sensors, SPREOS points towards the suspected threat, performs a Doppler-based interrogation to confirm the existence of a valid threat, and extracts its key parameters. In addition, SPREOS precisely tracks and points an advanced solid-state Quantum Cascade Laser (QCL) towards the threat for the most effective jamming of the missile while continually assessing the jamming effectiveness.
Ronen Factor, Co-CEO and Founder at BIRD Aerosystems: “BIRD Aerosystems is honored to be a qualified supplier of Airborne Missile Protection Systems for the US government, with its advanced solutions installed on hundreds of US Army aircraft operating worldwide in the most complicated conflict zones. As part of the company’s growth and expansion, we are now also offering advanced airborne solutions for the US Airforce. Implementing innovative radar and electro-optic technologies, BIRD’s solutions provide the most enhanced protection for military aircraft and helicopters against the growing threat of ground-to-air missiles (MANPADS), ensuring the safety of aircraft and crew.”

The NIMASA Deep Blue project has proved its efficiency as the International Bargaining Forum (IBF) has recently removed Nigeria from the list of countries designated as risk maritime nations
Following the delivery of its ASIO Maritime Task Force Solution to Nigeria, as part of the NIMASA Deep Blue Project, BIRD Aerosystems has completed a successful live demonstration of the ASIO aircraft capabilities, including real-time interception of vessels performing illegal activities at sea.
Israeli company BIRD Aerosystems, has completed the deliveries of additional AMPS systems, including the MACS – a Missile Approach Confirmation Sensor, and a provision of SPREOS – the Self Protection Radar Electro-Optic System DIRCM, for the Czech Air Force Mil Mi-17 military helicopters. The MACS is a semi-active confirmation radar that reduces the false alarm rate of the overall missile warning system. This program is part of a follow-up program with the Czech Air Force that has been protecting its helicopters with the AMPS system for the last 15 years and has deployed them in the most complex environments, such as Afghanistan.
