[Herzliya, October 2017]: BIRD Aerosystems, the leading developer of Special Mission Aircraft Solutions (ASIO) and Airborne Missile Protection Systems (AMPS), will present the AEROSHIELD Pod in its full configuration for the first time in Israel, at the Systematics annual conference in Tel Aviv. Integrating the full AMPS system into an all-in-one Pod solution, the AeroShield Pod was designed to provide the most comprehensive anti-missile aircraft protection for narrow and wide body aircraft and VIP jets.
Integrating the AMPS-MV system which includes BIRD’s SPREOS Directional Infra-Red Counter Measure (DIRCM) as well as Missile Launch Detection Sensors (MILDS) and additional Flare Dispensers, AEROSHIELD is the only pod solution that supports protection by both DIRCM and flares (Counter Measure Dispensing System), ensuring the highest aircraft survivability.
Easily installed, BIRD’s AEROSHIELD Pod provides optimum platform protection with minimal interference to the aircraft, while fully complying with EASA/FAA civil aviation regulation procedures. Using the AMPS-MV advanced configuration which ensures a Zero False Alarm rate, the AEROSHIELD Pod is ideal for wide body aircrafts such as the A320, B737, B777, A380 etc., and can be easily transferred between different aircrafts.
BIRD Aerosystems was chosen to present the AEROSHIELD Pod at the conference. The AEROSHIELD POD was designed using Systematics’ SOLIDWORKS software, and is already fully operational and in use on VIP aircraft.
Ronen Factor, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Founder: “We are proud to be chosen to present our advanced AEROSHIELD Pod in Israel, as part of the Systematics annual conference. Equipped with BIRD’s SPREOS DIRCM, the AEROSHIELD is the only pod solution that supports protection by both DIRCM and flares, and thus it is the ideal solution for protection of large aircraft and VIP jets. In light of the growing threat of MANPADS to civil and military aviation, the requirement for an all-in-one self-protection system (SPS) Pod is salient”.

Israeli company BIRD Aerosystems, has completed the deliveries of additional AMPS systems, including the MACS – a Missile Approach Confirmation Sensor, and a provision of SPREOS – the Self Protection Radar Electro-Optic System DIRCM, for the Czech Air Force Mil Mi-17 military helicopters. The MACS is a semi-active confirmation radar that reduces the false alarm rate of the overall missile warning system. This program is part of a follow-up program with the Czech Air Force that has been protecting its helicopters with the AMPS system for the last 15 years and has deployed them in the most complex environments, such as Afghanistan.
