Herzliya, Israel, December 2011 – BIRD Aerosystems received a new order to protect an large number of helicopters operated by the US government in Afghanistan.
The contract was awarded to BIRD following the recent successful installations on helicopters operated by the US and Canadian forces in Afghanistan and Iraq and is an important milestone in achiveng standertization of the AMPS system on all US non-standered aircrafts.
Under this contract BIRD will be responsible to deliver its Airborne Missile Protection System (AMPS) as well as to integrate and certify the system installation on the helicopters. The project contracted by the US Government will ensure safety of flight for the crew and aircraft while protecting them against all known shoulder launched missiles (MANPADS).
BIRD Aerosystems Ltd. is a privately owned company established in 2001 and based in Israel. The order, placed by a long-standing NATO client, includes the supply of systems to protect the VIP Dassault Falcon 7X and Airbus A319 aircraft. Delivery is expected in 2025 and also includes system maintenance services,” Bird stated in a press release.
