This is the first time that BIRD’s SPREOS DIRCM solution is presented in Azerbaijan
ADEX 2018, Booth #2304
BIRD Aerosystems, the leading developer of Special Mission Aircraft Solutions (ASIO) and Airborne Missile Protection Systems (AMPS), will present the SPREOS Compact Directional Infra-Red Counter Measure (DIRCM) solution in ADEX, Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition. Presented in Azerbaijan for the first time, BIRD Aerosystems’ SPREOS is an ideal solution for a range of airborne platforms, including military helicopters and transport aircraft, as it ensures optimal protection against different MANPADS threat types.
Protected by a sapphire dome, BIRD’s SPREOS combines a radar-based Confirmation sensor and an active laser (DIRCM). The system can be easily integrated with all types of Missile Warning Systems (MWS) and upon receiving a pre-alarm from the MWS, SPREOS slews to the direction of the threat, activates its multi-band radar functionality, confirms and tracks the threat while analyzing its unique information (velocity, distance, position, RCS) to enable the most effective jamming response. Following the confirmation, SPREOS deploys its multiband countermeasure laser to jam the threat while constantly performing kill assessment by monitoring of the threat and real-time assessment whether it has been defeated and how effective is the protection. BIRD’s SPREOS is the most compact and lightweight DIRCM available today, With a weight of less than 15Kg.
Alongside the SPREOS DIRCM solution, BIRD Aerosystems will also present the latest configuration of its ASIO solution. BIRD Aerosystems’ ASIO solution is a complete end-to-end airborne Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) system. ASIO provides decision makers and field commanders with real-time terrestrial and maritime information. Integrated with BIRD’s unique Mission Management System and using the latest surveillance and monitoring sensors, the ASIO solution has become one of the most affordable, reliable and capable Special Mission Aircraft Solutions available today.
“BIRD’s compact SPREOS DIRCM ensures optimal protection against different MANPADS threat types, as it uniquely eliminates all of the false alarms and ensures that only actual threats are declared and jammed” Says Ronen Factor, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Founder at BIRD Aerosystems. “We are honored to present the latest configuration of our most advanced solutions in the fields of Airborne Missile Protection Systems and Airborne Surveillance, Information and Observation solutions at ADEX, Azerbaijan.”
The NIMASA Deep Blue project has proved its efficiency as the International Bargaining Forum (IBF) has recently removed Nigeria from the list of countries designated as risk maritime nations
Following the delivery of its ASIO Maritime Task Force Solution to Nigeria, as part of the NIMASA Deep Blue Project, BIRD Aerosystems has completed a successful live demonstration of the ASIO aircraft capabilities, including real-time interception of vessels performing illegal activities at sea.

Israeli company BIRD Aerosystems, has completed the deliveries of additional AMPS systems, including the MACS – a Missile Approach Confirmation Sensor, and a provision of SPREOS – the Self Protection Radar Electro-Optic System DIRCM, for the Czech Air Force Mil Mi-17 military helicopters. The MACS is a semi-active confirmation radar that reduces the false alarm rate of the overall missile warning system. This program is part of a follow-up program with the Czech Air Force that has been protecting its helicopters with the AMPS system for the last 15 years and has deployed them in the most complex environments, such as Afghanistan.
